KEY DATES:
1. On Wednesday, Oct. 24, John Rogers will speak to us.
2. On Monday, Oct. 29, you will have a quiz on the materials that you have read associated with value investing and on chapter 6 in Colander.
UPCOMING SPEAKERS:
1. On Wednesday, Oct. 24 and Nov. 7, Victoria’s day, John Rogers, will come in and talk about how he started Ariel Capital Management, the investment philosophy behind the firm with specific example of how it works, and how one evaluates management of a firm that they are thinking of investing in–with video demonstration of the method they use.
2. On either Friday the 9th or 16th of November, Allen Sanderson, who teaches the introductory econ. course at the University, will speak to us about sports economics–perhaps the use of steroids in sports.
CLASS ONE: we will review the Lynch piece on the balance sheet. HOMEWORK: John Rogers’ materials.
CLASS TWO: second period will hear John Rogers and seventh will look at the materials that he sent us.
CLASS THREE: second period will discuss the materials that John Rogers sent us and seventh will hear him speak. HOMEWORK: finish chapter 6
CLASS FOUR: a facilitator will lead a discussion on the rest of Chapter 6
