EYE-OPENER OF THE WEEK: when love and skill work together expect a masterpiece. John Ruskin
KEY DATE:
1. During the third class period of the week, we will have a quiz on the multiplier chapter. This quiz will NOT be based on the test bank questions but will consist of questions of what I deem to be important in the chapter. In the first part of the chapter you will want to know the difference between the AS/AD and the Multiplier Model, what the latter model is designed to explain, be able to articulate the shape of the Aggregate Production curve and the Aggregate Expenditure curve, how you determine autonomous expenditure graphically, be able to define what mpe is and what other forms of induced expenditurres there are, and be able to define the expenditure function and the multiplier equation. You should also be able to graphically explain how, say, a change in expenditure, of $100,00 looks on an AS/AD graph and multiplier graph with say an mpe of 4(see page 631). You will also want to know how economists use the multiplier model and what the multiplier process is. Finally, you should be able to write a little paragraph on the limitations of the multiplier model.
CLASS ONE: we will discuss again the first half of the multiplier chapter. HOMEWORK: finish the chapter.
CLASS TWO: we will discuss the second half of the chapter.
CLASS THREE: QUIZ on the multiplier chapter. HOMEWORK: read chapter 27 up to “How banks Create Money.” EXPECT POP QUIZZES.
