Disk Inventory

We have all been there: you notice that your computer’s hard drive is almost full and you have no idea what is taking up all the extra space. You could search through the likely places checking file sizes individually, but wouldn’t it be much more convenient to see an “overhead” graphical view of your hard drive with the files represented by squares whose scale indicates their size? You can get just such an overview with a free utility called Disk Inventory X. It’s very easy to use, but be sure to notice that if you click on a file (i.e. that big 4 gigabyte one taking up so much space) you’ll be given both it’s name and location.main1.jpg
