Chicago Jazz Festival
This afternoon, at 4:45, at the Petrillo Music Shell,
recent U-High graduate Monique Johnson (class of 09)
will perform the national anthem as part of the opening
ceremonies of the Festival. Monique performs at the
request of the Jazz Institute of Chicago.
On Saturday, Lab School faculty member Tomeka Reid
currently on leave) performs with Nicole Mitchell’s
Black Earth Strings Ensemble, beginning at 2:20, at
the Jazz on Jackson stage.
It’s a great weekend of jazz, and it is particularly
exciting to have one of our recent graduates as a
participant.
