Fifth grade saxophonists and percussionists have begun playing their instruments. Everybody in the class has their saxophones or drumsticks. A few students still need to obtain the instruction book, Accent on Achievement, Book 1, for their respective instrument. As with all supplies, these books may be obtained through the school’s music vendor, Quinlan & Fabish. They may be reached by telephone at 630.654.4111, or via the web at: http://www.qandf.com/.

Sixth Grade Saxophone and Percussion Classes

It’s hard to believe we are already in the third week of classes in the new academic year. This is a quick reminder to sixth grade students and families that saxophone and percussion students are currently working in Accent on Achievement, Book 1, for their respective instruments. Later this year, we will move into Book 2, of the same series.

As always, books, sticks, reeds, neckstraps, and other supplies may be purchased through the school’s music vendor, Quinlan & Fabish. They may be reached by telephone at 630.654.4111, or via their website at: http://www.qandf.com/. Items purchased will be delivered to Lab School on Thursdays.

Welcome back from Spring Break! Below are a few reminders:

Our Spring Concert is on Tuesday, May 12, at 7:30 p.m., in Mandel Hall. Concert selections will be picked from the following pieces: “Rock Island Trail”, “Star Wars”, “No Drummer Left Behind”, “Intensity”, “Redhawk”, and “March Onward” (from Book 2).

If you need reeds, sticks, cork grease, etc., the fastest, most convenient way to obtain those items is through the school’s music vendor, Quinlan & Fabish. Their website is: http://www.qandf.com/

Hope you’re practicing at home on a regular basis. Thirty minutes per day, on the days on which band class does not meet, is recommended.

Welcome back! I hope everyone had an enjoyable Spring Break. As we all get back into our school routines, a reminder that the fifth grade band spring concert is on Thursday, May 14, at 7:00 p.m., in Judd 126. Please note that the start time is one half-hour earlier than our concert this past January.

Home practice is essential for success on any instrument. I urge everyone to be practicing for twenty to thirty minutes per day, on the days on which band class does not meet. A good place to pick up again is our Accent on Achievement book, pages 14, 15, 16, and 17.
