The Parents’ Association (PA) welcomes all parents to the new school year. We hope to see you at the first Parents’ Association (PA) Meeting on Monday September 14 at Room Judd 126. There will be a welcome reception at 6:30pm. The PA meeting will start at 7:00 pm, and will feature two special guests.  Jason Lopez, the newly hired Associate Director – Educational Program will discuss his plans and priorities including implementation of Lab’s Diversity Statement.  Marlon Lynch, the newly hired University of Chicago Associate Vice President for Safety & Security and Chief of Police will discuss his priorities for security at the Lab campus and recent changes affecting public safety coordinators.  You will also hear reports from Lab Director Mr. David Magill and the Principal from each school level.

This is a great opportunity to meet with the administrators, PA board members, and fellow parents and to discuss current Lab topics. PA meetings are held on the second Monday of every other month. Childcare during the meeting can be arranged by sending an e-mail at least 24 hours in advance to parents@ucls.uchicago.edu with the word {babysitting} on the subject line. (Please be sure to include the special brackets {  } that accompany the word.)

Reminder: If you have not done so, please click on our Back to School Info link at the top of the right-hand column of our PA web page. There you will find a welcome message from the PA president, Lauren Polite, and each PA school council’s message about back-to-school events that we have organized for you. Please note that there are many events across the grades during the first several weeks of school, such as the Middle School BBQ, New Parent Receptions, Parents’ Night (Open House), Picture Day, etc. Some events require response from you so please note the dates and deadlines. From the Back to School Info link, you will also find information about the PA and how we could work together to ensure the best experience for all our children at Lab.
