MS Parent-to-Parent Talks - Two December dates

Parents of 7th-8th graders: Monday, Dec. 7, Judd 110, 7:00-8:30 p.m

Parents of 5th-6th graders: Thursday, Dec. 10, Judd 126, 7:00-8:30 p.m.

The Parents Association in cooperation with Mr. Reed will be sponsoring Parent-to-Parent talks facilitated by a licensed adolescent counselor with over 15 years of experience working with children, parents, and school personnel. Ms. Evelina Pereira-Webber has been conducting these valuable talks at Lab for a number of years.

If you have a sensitive issue you’d like addressed, you may contact one of the MS council representatives or Mr. Reed beforehand so it can be brought to the discussion anonymously.

As our children progress through middle school we have fewer opportunities to discuss societal pressures and parenting topics with other parents of our community. These can be very valuable exchanges especially as our children navigate adolescence.These talks are especially useful when parents come with issues particular to their children. We hope you are able to attend.

MS Parent Volunteers Needed for Grade Level Co-Chairs

The PA’s Middle School Council is looking for a ‘Few Good Women or Men’ to organize a fun grade level event this school year for each of the 5th,6th, 7th and 8th grades. Must be a current Lab parent in the grade in which interested, and have a big dose of enthusiasm and a desire to see your child and his or her classmates just have some fun! Come on Moms and Dads! Two co-chairs are needed for each of the grades’ Grade Level Event. Amateurs welcome. If interested, please contact Middle School Council member Lisa Curci at lisacurci@yahoo.com to volunteer.

In past years, grades have opted to have a grade-wide event at such venues as a climbing wall or bowling alley with the PA paying a small portion of the total and the students paying for their participation. However, new ideas are always welcome.

GIANT GYM NIGHTS

5th & 6th graders: Friday October 23
7th & 8th graders: Friday October 30

Students may sign in at 7:00PM, must wear lab school gym clothes, bring a towel and cap if they wish to swim, and must be SIGNED OUT by a PARENT at 9:00PM.

Grandparents/Grand Friends’ Day - Friday Oct. 16

It’s almost here…this Friday, October 16 is Lab’s Second-Ever Grandparents and Grand friends’ Day. It’s a chance for students from nursery to 5th grade to invite their grandparents or grand friends to come to the Lab School with them. Over 450 guests are expected to attend.

Grandparents and Grand friends will start the day in the classroom with the students (8:30 - 10:00) and then enjoy brunch, student entertainment and a short program in Kovler Gym. The program will end by 11:30 am; valet closes at 12:30pm. For parents who have questions about the day, please see our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) document.

Volunteers are still needed as early as 7:30 am (with free before-school care being offered for your children). If you will be at the school at any time of the event and can lend a hand, please contact Allison Pay Crawford at 773-702-6255 or send an email to labggdayvolunteers@gmail.com.
