The Cha Chas!!!

The 7th grade girls book club has read three books and had three awesome discussions. The books we’ve read are: Uglies by Scott Westerfield; Totally Joe by James Howe; and Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson. Our next selection will be The Plain Janes by Cecil Castelucci and Jim Rugg. We will meet during activity period on April 11th, the second week after we get back from Spring Break. It was decided at the last meeting that the book club should remain open to any and all interested 7th grade girls. We have some pretty frank and honest discussions. Our number one rule is to *listen * with *respect* when someone is speaking, which everyone is pretty good at. So, if you like books, like to talk about ideas, and are interested in sharing your thoughts with others, then this is the place for you.  Please contact Ms. Oakes to join the grrrls book club. Happy Reading! And cha cha cha.

Rebecca Caudill Young Readers’ Award or Where Are All The Books?

null
We are shocked! Never before has the Caudill list been so popular. We ordered 5 copies of each title and they were snapped up after the second booktalk. And that was just the 7th grade. So, we ordered 5 more copies. And those have been snapped up as well. Here’s what we need from you…

1. Please only check out one book at a time. ( I know, I know…it’s a pain…)
2. Please return your books on time. (Maybe an even bigger pain, but I know *you* want to check out those curiously absent titles as well.)
3. Please place the titles you’d like to read on hold. You are allowed 5 holds at a time.

Here’s what we promise…
1. To aggressively get back all overdue titles.
2. To purchase more copies of books that have 5 or more holds.

Remember that reading three titles allows you to vote and receive a frozen treat; reading ten titles gets you all that plus a pizza party; reading eighteen-twenty titles gets you everything plus a Special Surprise (better than a bookmark, not as good as a trip to Paris).

Have fun all of you reading maniacs!

Welcome Back!!!

The games afoot. We are making so many changes in the middle school library we hope you recognize it…and us! New shelves, new books, new carpet, new hairdos. We are so excited to see all of you and to hear about your adventures, literary and otherwise.

For instance, what did you think of the latest, and final, installment in the adventures of everyone’s favorite boy wizard? Did *anyone* read *anything* from the summer reading list? If so, what were your favorite books? If not, what did you discover out there?

Just post your comments and let’s see what’s happening in the middle school library world.

Glad you’re baaaaack!
