Five fearless freshmen and two sophomores came out on the side of victory amidst a raucous crowd and against a very physical CICS team. The game featured 3 technical fouls (charged against CICS) and 3 players fouling out (including 2 from U-High, leaving us with exactly 5 players at the end of the game) and two injury time-outs to assist battered U-High players off the floor…sheesh.
This was the first full game played by the freshmen at the high school level - so congrats to them for helping to pull off the hard fought victory. Almost everyone on the team scored in this game, led by Gabby Lubin with 12 points. Madeline Stecy came in with 8 points, 4 from Brianna Watson, 3 a-piece from Rose Traubert and Sheba Nelson, and 2 points came in from Emily Roberts. Ali Drake ran the point guard position and didn’t score what for all of her distributing the ball to her teammates.
This win brings the J.V. Girls record up to a mighty 1-0. Their next, and final, game of the season will be on Jan. 15 at Latin. Kudos to the win!
