U-High Girls Varsity Soccer 3-1 loss to Wheaton mitigated by 5-0 NSCD Victory

Friday, Varsity faced Wheaton Academy away.

Varsity gave a strong effort, but was unable to hold the Wheaton Warriors. After the Warriors went up 2-0 early in the first half, Gabbie Clark responded with a gorgeous breakaway, resulting in a U-High goal. Wheaton slotted another one in before the end of the second period, ending the game in a 3-1 Maroon loss. Emily Kuo had a strong defensive effort, in addition to both sweepers Lucy O’Keefe and Ciara Zagaja.

Returning on Tuesday, the Maroons met success in their conference game against North Shore Country Day. Ciara Zagaja was a force to be reckoned with, assisting Amelia Acosta off a cross, Fraser Brown off of a corner kick and Emily Kuo off of a pass for U-High’s first three goals. Emily went on to assist Iona Hall in a beautiful combination shortly afterwards. Alison Feder, assisted by Kendall Pelander, scored the final goal of the game and the first of her varsity career. Sara Sandmel defended U-High’s sixth shutout.

The Maroons ended the game with a 5-0 win and retained their undefeated conference record.
