7th Grade Baseball Withstands Late Charge by MPA for 3rd Consecutive Win

The 7th Grade Baseball Team withstood a late comeback attempt by Morgan Park Academy to eek out a 12-10 win on Monday afternoon. With the win, the 7th Grade Baseball team is now at 3 - 1 for the season. The game itself was very exciting to say the least. In the 6th and final inning, MPA had the bases loaded with 1 out with the winning run on first base. After an infield fly out ruling, Lucas Bucheim-Jurrison caught a pop-up behind first base and dashed over to tag the napping runner out on second base to end the ball game. Amol Gundeti was on the mound for the save (1st save) as this played occurred.  Every player on the team contributed to the win as each player scored at least one run in the contest. John Browne was the catalyst for today’s victory with his work at the plate, and on the mound. John pitched 3 shutout innings to earn his first victory of the season. At the plate, John was 2 for 2 with 2 RBI’s and 2 runs scored. Chumin Wu (1 for 2, 2 RBI’s, 2 runs scored) and Lucas Bucheim-Jurrison (1 for 2, 2 RBI’s, 2 runs scored) also contributed to this victory.  The Maroons will try to make it 4 in a row against Westminster Christian Academy on Saturday.
