The Maroons took home their third consecutive regional title on Friday winning regionals over the Bogan Lady Bengals 8-0.
Playing without several starters, Maroons did a terrific job shifting positions and filling new roles. Ciara Zagaja fell nicely into the forward role, scoring two goals right off the bat. Both Sasha Karapetrova and Lucy “Luck” O’Keefe stepped out of their normal roles as defenders to make dazzling goals. It was Lucy’s first of the season. Fraser Brown, not wanting to be shown up by the entire back line, brought one in for the forwards. The mid-fielders then took the game into their own hands with center Amelia Acosta scoring one, followed by wing Amy Solomon. Dorian Williams ended the game cleanly with a final finish, bringing the score up to 8-0.
Notable assisting players included Ciara Zagaja, Sasha Karapetrova, Chrissy Delicata, Rachel Bishop and Kate Reott.
Congratulation to the Maroons and their third consecutive regional title! The Maroons go on to battle Mother McAuley for a chance to play in the Sectional Finals today.
