OH, THE WHEELS ON THE BUS… JV and Varsity Golf traveled to Oakbrook/Westmont last THURS, August 21 for their first dual match against Westmont High School. Compounded by both rush hour and Bears traffic, we were on the bus much longer than the golf course! Varsity played at Willowcrest, earning their season’s first win 182-192 with SOPH Jack Burns carding a low score of 44 and tying for Medalist honors.

JV entered a 5-person roster with four golfers playing their first-ever HS match at Twin Lakes Golf Course in Westmont. Westmont JV won the match 136-178 and also took Medalist honors. FROSH Maddie Lindsey and JUNIOR Jason Whitaker had low scores of 43 for U-High. Even though Jason LEFT HIS PUTTER ON THE PRACTICE GREEN, he managed to par the first hole and later bogied 5, 6 and 7. Maddie parred #6 and had four bogies. Andrew, Robert and Akila did a great job with course management and we all look forward to next week’s competition.

Friday’s August 22 scheduled match against was cancelled by Parker who was unable to field a team.

COACH V ALMOST CLOCKED! While teeing off during a practice round last FRI at Lost Marsh, Coach V was standing about 15 yards behind the tee box to watch Jason hit. She watched the ball but should have watch the club as Jason’s club head came off his 8-iron, sailing past Coach V’s head. Time to start wearing a bike helmet on the course…
