As stadium lights shone down on Amos Alonzo Stagg Field, last Tuesday, the Maroons primed themselves for their opening game of the Windy City Ram Classic against a competitive De La Salle side. Before warming up, the boys evidenced an immense eagerness to take the pitch. The beginning of the game was controlled by an expected anxiety, but the boys soon found their rhythm. An emphatic long-range strike from cocaptain Morgan Murphy, senior, halfway through the half, sent the bench and the crowd into a frenzy. For parts of the game each team demonstrated their rust with sloppy passing and miscommunication. Most mistakes, however, were nullified with flashes of brilliance. In the end, U-High held on and a late minute tap-in from cocaptain Nate Wise, senior, secured a 2-0 result.
