U-High travel to rival Morgan Park, leave with an important 1-0 victory

Anticipated as one of the toughest games on the Maroons schedule, the Morgan Park Academy match lived up to the hype. From the first whistle, both teams played with high intensity. U-High maintained control of midfield, while Morgan Park relied on counter attacks to propel their offense. The Maroon backline held steady and barely allowed Morgan Park’s speedy forwards any breathing room. Division 1 recruit and sweeper, Milan Tica, proved a tough obstacle for the Maroon offense to get past. About half way through the first half, however, U-High got the opportunity it needed. Following a foul at the edge of MPA’s 18, Junior Zack Reneau-Wedeen fired a perfect free-kick into the back of the net. The remainder of the game contained flashes of brilliance from both sides but U-High maintained control with goalie Richard Tomlinson raising to occasion whenever called upon. After the ref blew the final whistle, U-High sealed the win and remained perfect in the ISL. Two more wins and the Maroons are Conference champs.
