On Wednesday, September 24th the Girls Varsity Tennis team soundly defeated Woodlands Academy, 5-0.  Gabbie Clark and Margo Turek, at first and second singles respectively, won in straight sets, 6-0. 6-0, and 6-1, 6-3.  Sofia Iatarola and Rachel Sylora won at first doubles, 6-2, 6-1, and Maggie Carton and Liz Abello won at third doubles, 6-2, 7-6.  Leah Sibener and Leslie Sibener had a come-from-behind win at second doubles.  The lost the first set, 2-6 and came back to win the second set in a tiebreak and then won the third set super tiebreak to take the match.

On Friday, September 28th we played away at North Shore Country Day.  North Shore has a lot of depth this year and we won only one match:  Gabbie Clark continued her unbeaten streak and won in straight sets.  Gabbie is now 11-0 for the season at first singles.  Margo Turek lost in straight sets at second singles; Maggie Carton and Liz Abello lost in straight sets at third doubles; and Leah and Leslie Sibener lost at second doubles in straight sets.   In the second set, first doubles, Rachel Sylora and Sofia Iatarola, had two chances to extend North Shore to three sets with a 5-4 lead and a couple of set points in hand.  But it didn’t happen and they went on to lose the set and the match in straight sets.
