Gabbie had a long day of tennis on Friday. She started with a round of 16 match against Jasmine Minor from Mundeleine. The match was a very tense three setter that was moved indoors because of rain. Indoor scoring is No-Ad scoring, so when games reach 40-40, the next point is a sudden death point that decides the game. The closeness of the match is best explaind by a single statistic rather than by the final score: Gabbie and Jasmine played 14 sudden death points in three sets, and Gabbie lost 9 of them. Both girls were nervous in the first set and there was a succession of service breaks and sudden death game points. Gabbie was down a break twice and found herself at 2-5. She rallied with a service break and a hold of serve to get to 4-5. But Jasmine was able to hold on and serve out the set 6-4.Gabbie served to start the second set, but the same pattern continued with several close games and four service breaks in a row. At 2-2 Gabbie held serve with a service winner for a 3-2 lead. She slowly found her form and earned herself another service break for 4-2. Then Gabbie held for 5-2 and broke Jasmine with a blistering forehand up the line winner to take the second set 6-2. Finally, after 90 minutes, the match was even at one set apiece. The third set also began with several service breaks. The games were hard fought and close, but Gabbie fell behind 0-4 before she was able to start a rally.Gabbie is still in the tournament after winning her matches in the fifth and sixth round of the backdraw
