In their first game of the season, the junior varsity Maroons opened play with a 4:30 match against Lincoln Park High School.

The field conditions on the Midway helped both teams get off to a fast start. LP struck first with a goal in the 8th minute, but U-High answered quickly in the 12th minute on a ball that Amy Northrop served across the face of the goal.

The rest of the half provided fairly equal play for both teams, and as time was running down in the half (31st minute), Lexie Barber played a slotted ball that found it’s way past the keeper.

In the second half, a ball trickled though the Maroon’s goal in the 38th minute, evening up the score. But, the quartet of sophomore defenders, Emmy Ehrmann, Sheba Nelson, Connie He and Miki Verma, were able to shut down the Lincoln Park offense while providing a few quality chances for their own attackers.

With a 2-2 final score, the Maroons (0-0-1) look forward to their next match, Thursday, March 16 versus Wheaton Academy, at 4:30 on the Midway.
