JV Girls Soccer ‘Mud’dles through, defeats Latin 1-0

On a typical late April afternoon the U-High Maroons took on the Independent School League rival Latin Romans.

The field conditions were playable, with some standing water in front of the west goal, which made for some challenging goal keeping.

The Maroons controlled play most of the first half. In the 27th minute, Leslie Kamel brought the ball of the left side, banged a shot of the post, and then collected the rebound and finished  past the keeper for the lone goal of the half.

In the second half, keeper Emily Roberts worked hard to earn her second shut-out, as she ‘dove’ through the water and mud saving several good chances.

The Maroons (2-1-1, 1-0-0) look to continue their success away against Hope Academy, Wednesday April 29th at 4:30. And then home, Thursday April 30th versus Whitney Young.
