U-High Varsity Tennis Loses to Latin, 0-5

The weather was cool and breezy, but nothing seemed to slow down Latin. While Latin’s tennis team this year is not as strong as last year’s team, they are still very good. They have a deep team and a solid lineup that is tough to beat. First singles player Tyler Anderson played a good match against their top player, Ben Quazzo. Quazzo has a great serve, a big forehand, and moves very well. Tyler was not intimidated by Quazzo’s big game, and especially in the second set he made Quazzo work hard for every point. In the end, Tyler lost in straight sets, 1-6, 4-6. Aneesh Gupta played well at second singles, but was up against a much more experienced player from Latin, Kevin Prescott. Prescott has a well-rounded baseline game and is a senior. Prescott won in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0.

The U-High doubles teams coped with the wind and cold pretty well, but Latin’s consistent play kept all three teams off the scoreboard. Bill Steuben and Evan Levin lost at first doubles, 2-6, 2-6. Madhav Suresh and Mark Wittels lost at second doubles, 0-6, 0-6. And Alex Hsu and Nathaniel Levmore lost at third doubles, 3-6, 4-6.
