JV Girls Soccer falls to St. Ignatius, 3-1

A beautiful Tuesday spring afternoon on Jackman Field, found the U-High Maroon challenging a very solid St. Ignatius Wolfpack squad.

The Maroons played a great team game in this match, working hard to defend and attack as a group. The lone goal in the first half came on a cross from the corner, which arched past our keeper (20th minute).

In the second half, the Wolfpack struck again in the 40th minute. But, U-High continued to work hard despite the deficit, netting their own goal in the 59th minute when Leslie Kamel worked hard to win a 50/50 ball played in from the Ignatius keeper, and Lexie Barber was able to gather the ball at her left foot and find the lower left corner of the goal.

Unfortunately, the Maroons were unable to stop ball progress on a Wolfpack attack in the 66th minute resulting in the final goal, but their effort through the game was at the highest level they’ve played all season.

Hopefully, the Maroons (3-3-1, 2-0-0) will be able to sustain this intensity for their match Wednesday, May 6th on the road against Timothy Christian (4:45).
