The girls team won the sectional title held at Lane Stadium in Chicago hosted bt Jones College Prep. Leah Sibener was the star of the meet winning the 100 meters and the 200 meters and taking 2nd in the 400qualifying for state in all 3 events. Aoife MacMahon won the 3200 and the 1600 while Sherry Fu was a few steps behind her in 2nd for both races. Both girls qualify for state in both events. The 4 x 800 relay took the title and qualified for state.That team was led by seniors Josey Mintel and Ethel Yang. Freshmen Emma Davis and Alex Chang join Ethel and Josey qualifying for state. Emily Kuo finished 2nd in the long jump and 2nd in the 800 and will go to state in both events. Jay Sah finished 3rd in the 100 hurdles and just missed a spot at the state final. Caroline Bank who was battling an ankle sprain just missed in the discus finishing 3rd. The girls win is their first Sectional Championship ever and last won a title in 1981 when the state series held District Championships which they won that year and then went on to place 3rd in the state meet. Congratulations to all the girls!
