On Wednesday evening, the Maroons defeated Kenwood Academy 5-3, improving their record to 9-5. Fifteenth seeded U-High completed a major upset on the road against the two seeded Broncos. Senior Mike Casey picked up the win, tossing a complete game with no walks as he piloted the Maroons to victory behind solid team defense. At the plate, Mike and fellow seniors Tim Parsons and Alex Zimmer each contributed two big hits. In Saturday’s regional final, the battle-tested squad will face the winner of seventh seed Phillips and tenth seed Leo. Junior Mark Woerner will toe the rubber for the Maroons, who look to extend their winning streak and advance to the Final Four of the Brooks sectional. Saturday’s game begins at approximately 3:00 PM at 49th and Cornell. Come watch as University High contends for their first Regional title in years!
