JV Boys Soccer Opens Season with 1-0 Victory over Timothy Christian

Traveling to Elmhurst on a beautiful Tuesday afternoon, the JV Maroons looked to start their season the same way they finished last year, with a win over the Timothy Christian Trojans.

The first half offered a few scoring chances; a Jonathan Portugal penalty kick and a beautiful corner from Philip Lockwood Bean to Martin Garrett-Currie’s head. The Trojan keeper ultimately saved both shots.

The defense proved very strong with Ben Postone, Aalap Herur-Raman and Grant Hensel anchoring the experienced line of backs.

As time ran down in the game, Martin drew the Maroons second penalty kick of the game, and was able to convert for the only goal of the game at the 62nd minute mark.

But the work was not yet done. The Trojans became very aggressive and drove the ball deep into U-High territory. Keeper Lucas Buchheim-Jurrison, earned his first shut-out by making a tremendous save in the 64th minute.

The Maroons (1-0-0) will play their next match Friday, September 4th against Chicago Hope Academy in Douglas Park (4:00pm).
