The 7th grade boys soccer team traveled to the Montrose fields Wednesday afternoon to take on Latin. The team played for the first time this season on a turf field beneath the lights, adjusting well to the speed of the pitch and an aggressive Latin attack. The game started out as a physical match and only became more so as the scoreless tie extended into the second half. Carl Fohran anchored the team’s defense, with Jeesae Kim and Miles Grogger balanced support and containment throughout the entire match to keep goalkeeper Henry Utset safe and sound. Midfielder Philip Gianfortune played his most tenacious game of the season, and the entire team showed excellent heart despite only having one substitute. The Maroons kept the ball on Latin’s half for the last several minutes but could not find the back of the net, and so the game ended in a 0-0 tie. The team’s next game is at home on Tuesday against North Shore Country Day, followed by a much-anticipated rematch against Latin at home on Thursday. Congratulations to the team on one of their best matches yet!
