On a cold and blustery Tuesday afternoon the seventh grade boys soccer team took on a tough North Shore Country Day opponent. The Maroons came out to a slow start, playing on their heels for most of the first half while NSCD attacked repeatedly up both wings with good footskills and dangerous crosses. Toward the end of the first half, though, the Maroons rallied, bringing the ball forward with increased pressure that eventually led to an NSCD own-goal in the 25th minute. The Maroons carried the 1-0 lead into the half and started the second half with renewed drive to win more 50-50 balls. NSCD, however, continued their physical attack, and ten minutes into the second half one of their impressive crosses led to a header that led to the back of the goal. The Maroons did not give up, though, and with ten minutes to go in the game Sean Selig found the back of the net to bring the score to 2-1. Both teams played intense, physical soccer all the way to the final whistle, with the Maroons coming away victorious. Congratulations to the entire team for one of their best games yet!
