7th Grade Boys Soccer Wins Rematch Against Latin

The 7th grade boys soccer team played their much anticipated rematch against Latin this Thursday afternoon.  The two teams had previously played a 0-0 tie on the Montrose turf, with both teams looking to capture a victory in what promised to be a spirited contest.  The appointed afternoon arrived with wind, wet, and weather, and the Maroons rose to the challenge.  Midfielder Michael Glick started the scoring off quickly with a solid finish on a pass from Carl Fohran, and then minutes later added a beautiful strike for his second goal to bring the Maroons to a 2-0 lead.  James Sinclair then capitalized on a loose ball at the top of the box with a laser strike to notch his first goal of the season.  Latin fought back with several offensive opportunities, but steadfast goalkeeper Henry Utset remained unphased, making several key saves throughout the half.  Just before the whistle blew Carl Fohran scored to bring the total to 4-0 at the half.  Latin started out the second half with increased offensive presence, causing the Maroons’ defense waivered slightly, but new goalkeeper Fohran made multiple muddy saves to preserve the shutout.  David Browne thumped home a solid shot to tally his first goal of the season, and the Maroons locked down the game from there to end with a convincing 5-0 victory beneath gray and rainy skies.  The team should be proud of their fortitude amidst such difficult field conditions.  Looking ahead, the team’s next game will be Saturday away against Elgin against the only opponent to defeat them so far.  Thanks to all the fans who braved the wet weather!
