A tale of collaboration

Yesterday, we received word that the UCLS Filmmaking Club’s submission won the ACTFL Podcast Contest popular vote! #1 in the High School Category, nation-wide. How cool is that?

Last night, I reflected on why this project worked out so beautifully. It really boils down to all the parties involved. Quite a list…

MR. LIENECK & IS provided the equipment and basic infrastructure for us to work with video.
SUPPORT ASSOCIATES in IS gave us some preliminary advice as we began toying with the idea.
STUDENTS helped decorate the corner of UH207 so that it caught people’s eyes.
MR. LIENECK loaned us the fabulous 1957 eames chair.
STUDENTS and TEACHERS took time out of their day to participate in the recording.
MR. MAGILL and other HS staff supported Claire with bulletin announcements and the distribution of permission letters.
PARENTS and STUDENTS quickly turned around the 22 permission forms for each of the participants in only 24 hours.
MR. FARVER and MS. JACKSON supported Claire in getting the permission letters faxed back to ACTFL, when I was out to a conference, to the point of waiting outside classrooms for participants.
MS. BILLINGSLY posted the video announcement on the home page, which then made it into the Lab e-News (thanks MR. KALLO), maximizing our chances of getting a high number of votes (in the end, over 300!!)
And of course, CLAIRE had the vision, enthusiasm, and determination to see the whole project through to its completion, including wading through all the footage, editing it in Final Cut, getting the word out via bulletin announcements, and coordinating the efforts of her student peers.

A real victory for Claire, the Filmmaking Club, and the entire Lab Schools community.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for all of your support!!
