Training Suggestions

Here is a summary of what Diane & I have brainstormed so far for departmental training. Is this on track? Please leave your comments & suggestions.

Social Bookmarking & the Internet	Working together to create a large bookmarking resource (simpy, diig, de.li.ci.io.us; how to organize sites under tabs; create browser bookmarks; Internet Resources (for research, grammar exercises, video, audio, pedagogical)
Working with images	CAMIO art database, image formats, how to resize, edit photos, photoshop basics, storing photos, backing up media, downloading, naming & storing images
PowerPoint & Beyond	Sharing how PowerPoint has been used, how it might be used, how other solutions might be used (Pages, Blogs, iWeb, etc.)
Podcasting &RSS education	Why RSS/XML is important to you; how podcasting works; podcasting solutions
Working with sound	How to create audio files on Garage Band & Audacity; tips, tricks, applications
iFlash	How to use iFlash; classroom applications; possibilities for export; group project?
Blogs	How to set up blogs; classroom uses.

Lab Layout

Here are two images & PDFs of the lab layout. One has machine ID numbers on them; the other does not. If you have an issue with headphones or with a machine, please leave a comment here, including the machine number, and I will look into it. Layout sheets may be particularly helpful for 3rd-4th-5th grades, where you may need to jot down the name of the student at each station in order to review their recordings online. The easier way to do this is to have each student say their name at the beginning of each recorded task.
