To log on to YuperStar, go to http://blogs.ucls.uchicago.edu/yuperstar/wp-admin and type in your normal username and password (the same ones you use to connect to the file server). If you have any problems logging on, please send me an email or contact the Help Desk at x2-1852. -aw
p.s. You may have been sent a temporary password via email at some point… you can ignore that email.

Here’s a loose outline of what I THINK are the major training needs for the department, based on what I’ve learned so far. I’ve still got lots to learn (and thank you to those who have filled out your surveys– it helps me immensely!) so this is what I’m thinking. Very open to your feedback:
OCTOBER 9: Photo Booth / Comic Life / Spotlight / Connecting to servers
NOVEMBER 13: PowerSchool questions / MAC OS X hints / What’s coming in Leopard
DECEMBER 11: Web Tools for Collaboration: Community Bookmarking / Wikis / Blogs
JANUARY 15: DiLL: How to use it more effectively/creatively
FEBRUARY 12: Skype/iChat: Possible applications
MARCH 11: Podcasting/RSS: Ways to use Podcasts
APRIL 8: Images: Shared iPhoto library? Editing Images Use in Classroom
MAY 13: Intro to Blog & Web Design (for those who want to design over the summer) and how to use them in language classrooms
LATE JUNE/EARLY JULY: 3-day? workshop on iMovie, iWeb, Blogging, Dreamweaver, Leopard + one-on-one follow-ups throughout the summer as needed
I’m sort of thinking of a 4-pt, 25-30 minute format for these meetings:
• play chocolate game (5 min)
• demonstration (10 min)
• optional assignment for those who choose to accept it
• discussion (10 min)
What do you think? What do you want? This is your time, and I definitely want to make it worthwhile. Please let me know what you really would like. I’m hoping that together we’ll be able to share and come up with some really great applications of these technologies…

It looks good. What would it be, part of the department meeting?

Yes, our plan was to look at these themes during Departmental Meeting. Are there other times you’d like to do tech training stuff?
