Moving Forward

Snapped this pic from the lab windows today. I love the forward movement. Where does the confidence, hope, and determination of kids come from? You can see it in the spring and pace of their step. What can we do to keep this kind of attitude, especially when we are presented with increasingly difficult challenges to overcome?
I have heard from several of you over the last few weeks that technology is a daunting thing. Boy, do I agree—especially as I survey all that is “out there” and all that is coming. But let’s take a lesson from our students as we watch them begin a new school year. The world may be daunting and complicated but that doesn’t stop them; they move forward with confidence and do the best they know how. They are confident in their ability to “figure stuff out” and trust that whatever the result, “it’ll be good enough.” The same can be true for all of us as we cross into unknown territory. Our example of a strong desire to learn and try new things with them in the classroom may leave more of an impression on our students than anything we teach. How about a few technology mantras for the day? I am moving forward with confidence and enjoying the learning process. I am quickly finding answers to my questions. I am a sponge and absorb what I need to know to get the job done. I love learning new things that make my classes more engaging and turn the lights on for my students. Technology is fun!
Great. Now breathe deeply, ten times.
