About two times per year, it’s good to have a conversation about how we work in the lab and what we could do to make things better. To facilitate this discussion, we will be using an editing tool called Coda, which will allow us all to contribute our ideas to the same document at the same time. We will spend 20 minutes talking and typing in pairs and 10 minutes discussing as a group.
The eight questions (so you can do some reflecting ahead of time) are:
|
1. What are some tips that you could share with your colleagues in using the lab? What things have you learned make it easier to manage a group of people in the lab? 2. What are some best practices for Lab reservations? 3. What are some guidelines for lab etiquette that you think would help things to run more smoothly? 4. Do you think there are some uses of the lab that are more important than others? If so, which activities do you think should take priority? 5. What have been some of the good experiences you’ve had with the lab since the start of the year? 6. What have been some of the not-so-good experiences you’ve had working in the lab? 7. How have you used the iCarts in your classroom? What could we do to improve the “iCart experience”? What would you like to use the iCarts for, but can’t? 8. What equipment, hardware, or software would you like to see in the lab? |
Here are some tips that will make using Coda more enjoyable.
1. When you see this window, click the second circle with the check mark for YES

2. When this screen pops up, you can click ok.

3. Make sure the Edit Button is selected at the top of your screen.

4. To change the font size, so that it is easy to edit, go to Preferences and click on “Editor” button.

6. Select Helvetica Neue and change the font number to 22 by typing in the small text box on the right.

7. If the highlighted text confuses you, go to the View menu and deselect “Show Change Marks”.

8. Click on the green circle at the top left corner to ZOOM your window. Coda will fill your screen, making it even easier to edit.
